Lost since

At times, we are victims of unloving fathers
Earthly fathers that belittle the girl-child
Making us question our very own source
The tree from which we sprung cast us aside
Labelling us solely by the gender we carry
Causing us immense emotional damages
Inflicting harm no man can ever save us from

Oftentimes, we needed to fight to be seen
Relegated and condemned for being female
We seek to find our way through the maze
But in circles we go, circles round and round
Until exhausted we give in to the ‘way it is done’
Swallowed up in the traditions of men, we drown
We let go and flow with the tide, it’s easier..

Until we find the Father, the One who cares
The only One who knows our delicate psyche
Who knows our makeup, Our perfect succour
Who knows what we have been through
Who understands where we are coming from
In Him we have access to Rivers of living water
He is the Word; Man by the well of Samaria

He tells us we are lionesses; we don’t believe it
He says we are heavenly royalty; we doubt it
He calls us blessed; we say ‘how can this be?’
He says, come, abide in me; and at first, we balk
Taking hesitant steps, we place our hands in His
And watch Him, suspecting His every move
Fully expecting Him to fail us like others did

But glory! Faithful is He, Faithful is the Lord
Never gives up on us, He catches all our falls
In Him, we blossom, we thrive, and we rest
He adorns, clothes, anoints and beautifies us
He sees us struggling in our own blood, dying
He speaks His Word to us and says ‘Daughter,
‘Live!’ Yes, Live! Thrive! Heal! Now arise. Son!’
We knelt as daughters, but we rise as sons

Abba has found us! Abba, Father! He is here
We rise up and thrive like plants in the field
And our fruitful fields becomes a great forest
We grow, mature and become very beautiful
Our breasts form and lush thick hair grows
We become bold as lionesses, so formidable
And we stand, taller than the lies around us
Planted in Him, we have found the truth. At last,
We daughters of God have left the cage behind

6“And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.8“When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.9“Then I washed you in water; yes, I thoroughly washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil. 10I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin; I clothed you with fine linen and covered you with silk. 11I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck. 12And I put a jewel in your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head. 13Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing wasof fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate pastryof fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful, and succeeded to royalty. 14Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you,” says the Lord God.

I'd love to hear from you.
